So i was wondering what is ppls opinion on this... i had a transfer for a pt with alot of pain in his legs he was going home from being in the hospital for a g-tube replacemant tha last ems personal pulled it lose moving him to his bed at home.... so we took him in the strecher from the hospital to his house. now heres the question. so there where 4 steps going into the house then a turn into the door. one of my partners wanted to move him to the stair chair and then bring his up I and the other guy wanted to just lift him in with the strecher. her clame was that b/c tehre are stairs and if you lose your footing your screwd we should use a stair chair my argumant was he has pain in his legs if we bend it and it was only 4 stairs. at the end we brought him in with the strecher but i want to know your opinion on the matter who would say stair chair over strecher in this case or visa versa...
Thanx

How big was the pt? Were there any sharp corners to move the strecher around? Was it snowing, raining? Were you confident in your partners ability to lift the strecher without a risk of dropping the pt?
If yes to these then I would say you did the right thing. 4 steps is not that far if you are ok with the other conditions.
