Why is it so hard for callers to understand that you can talk to them and start the ambulance at the same time. Even after telling them the ambulance is on the way they stilll ask 3 more times. DAH! :roll:

I think that it is just human nature. They have a loved one on the floor unconscious or bleeding and time seems to fly by.

Have you ever needed to call 911? I have, for my unconscious father who had passed out due to hypoglycemia. Even though the fire house is only two miles from my house, it seemed liked it took them 20 minutes to arrive.

Hi Brian,

I agree with you, it's human nature.. the thing that bugs me about that question is it always seems to the the bitchy calls that mostly ask the question. After the fourth time of telling them you'd think it would sink in.

The first time I had to call 911 for my one year old daughter having a febrile seizure, having no medical knowlage back then it was as scary as it gets. I can really sympathize with callers on that issue. I would have to say the most freaked out callers are for seizures even over cardiac arrests.
